Flamenco
The flamenco is a developed musical phenomenon that took place in Andalusia throughout the XIX Century. The cultural wealth that numerous civilizations that lived in Andalusia left in our history
Report: Luis Luque del Rio

Together with the artistic movement that predominated the XIX Century, like the romanticism, made possible a different more natural way to express itself (sing and dance) and to live and even to understand the existence, arriving to the moment when the popular songs, that previously were interpreted rather within a folkloric context, happened to "aflamencar" themselves and consequently, different styles arised from this type of musics (also denominated "Palos"), as such as the malagueñas, soleares, siguiriyas or fandangos... majority of them, accompanied by their own dance style and guitar play, that little by little reached the perfection or evolved until getting to what we nowadays understand by Flamenco or Cante Jondo.

The existence in Andalusia of these factors, together with the understanding between gypsies and payos, caused the flamenco to be nourished with their unvaluable contributions, making the Flamenco a very healthy art and even been enjoyed with great popularity outside our borders. In addition of the rest of Spain, being Madrid the most important nucleus, an important root of this art is located in the south of France and Japan, not to mention all and each one of the fans that Flameco has worldwide. Like any other Art, the flamenco is universal.

The "Cante" is a particular way to express joy, pains, desperation, euphoria, reality, passions and/or feelings. The three extensions of the flamenco (songs, guitar play and dance) require harmony among them causing this art to be extremely difficult to execute, however the improvisation and the creativity have an important place, and are the nourishment of the flamenco. The rithym and the compass play a very important role in certain "Palos", although others are executed without this elements and in some cases even without the participation of the guitar.

Thanks to the "Peñas" this art stays between us, through organizing festivales, congresses, meetings, contests and all type of social acts with flamenco content. The most representative one in Malaga, is the Peña Juan Breva.

In the Costa del Sol, there are multitude of Flamenco Dancing Schools, where you could make contact with this art, just visit our ESCUELAS DE FLAMENCO EN MARBELLA page.

If you consider you are not able to dance and you prefer to enjoy with the dance of others, in Marbella while having dinner or a drink, you could enjoy a live show of these characteristics, among them the RESTAURANTE LA PLAZA - HOTEL PUENTE ROMANO located between Marbella and Puerto Banús and RESTAURANTE SHOW FLAMENCO BONA DEA
