Street Markets
Have a wander and a browse, enjoy the hustle and bustle, learn about customs and try to find yourself a bargain.
There are a great number of street markets throughout the Costa del Sol and every one is different. Many markets combine flea markets and car boot sales where bargains can be found. Apart from the usual tourist souvenirs, good buys within Andalucia include linen, ceramic, leather goods and hand-made jewellery.

Locally produced furniture is very original. The closeness of Morocco dictates that there are plenty of stalls selling authentic Arabic goods such as pottery, metalwork and leather goods and ethnic Moroccan items. Antiques are also to be found.

A variety of goods are commonly sold in street markets, including food, flowers, plants, clothes, shoes, ironmongery, crockery, hardware, linen, ceramics, cassettes, carpets, and leather goods.

However food markets remain the most popular and are, without doubt, the best place to buy the fresher vegetables and fruit. The stalls are grouped together more or less according to the types of food they offer.

- Street market of Marbella: Every Monday from 9 am to 2 pm, at the Fair site (Las Albarizas area). Included food, flowers, clothes and shoes.

- Street market of Puerto Banús: Every saturday from 9am to 2pm in Boulevard de La Fama. Here you can buy clothes, shoes, secondhand articles, costume jewellery, flowers, food, antiques and almost everything.

- Street Market of Nueva Andalucía: Every Saturday from 9am to 2pm. arround the bullring. An important collection of antiques and art. The stalls spread in all directions. Better to park at the bottom end of the town near the N340 and walk up (10 minutes). Lots of places to eat and drink around the market.

- Street Market of San Pedro Alcántara: Every Thursday from 9am to 2pm. in Avda. Jorge Guillén at the top end of the town. Reasonable sized market with clothes, shoes, fresh produce and the usual tourist stalls.

- Street Market of Las Chapas: Every Friday from 9am to 2pm. Behind the 'Tenencia de Alcaldía' building. Clothes and fruits and vegetables.

- Street Market of Ronda: Every Sunday from 9am to 2pm at San Francisco district.

- Street Market of Estepona: Every Wednesday from 9am to 2pm. in the town centre. Large and well organised with a great variety of stalls. Limited parking nearby. Get there early. Nowhere nearby for food and drink, you need to walk into the town towards the sea. Also every Sunday, around the small port. Lots of bars around the market to eat and drink.

- Street Market of Sabinillas: Every Sunday, market and car boot sale, alongside the N340 highway. Late starting but full of bargains. Good Moroccan and Indian items. Nearby bars become packed very quickly. Every Friday, in the town (Manilva), small local market.

- Street Market of Fuengirola: Market near the N340. at the Fair site from 9am to 2.30pm. Hardly any parking nearby but the market is the largest on the coast and here you can buy just about anything, from original Moroccan leather craftwork to second hand video equipment. Watch for pick-pockets and time share touts at the entrance (ignore any special offers of prizes etc). Every Tuesday food and every saturday secondhand articles. Also every Sunday at Parque Doñas Sofia, next to the Mosque, an art market.

- Street Market of Benalmadena: Every Friday, market with foodstuff. Behind the station in Arroyo de Miel. Nearby Tivoli pleasure park. Every friday in Benalmádena Pueblo, Plaza de Aguacil. Every Sunday, second-hand articles in Tivoli pleasure-park
